My introduction to Delta Omega was through my older sister, Rebecca. When she joined the club, she was instantly invested. I was eager to know why it was so important to her. What made this club so special? As soon as I walked into my first prospective, I finally understood why it was special: the people.
I was overwhelmed with the community present. Not only were they powerful and godly women, but they were also weird and quirky like me! I instantly made connections to the actives and girls rushing with me, some of them being my best friends today!
Being in the club the same time as my sister is something I will always cherish. I got to see firsthand how much she loved this club while being able to share the same great community of people. Having this bond, we both understood why it meant so much to us.
One of my favorite things about the community of Delta Omega is the constant love and support from everyone. If I am having a rough day, I know I have sisters wanting to pray over me and someone always willing to talk it out over Waffle House. They have seen me at my best and worst moments, celebrating and comforting me. This club has become a home filled with many memories. I don’t know where I would be without it.
I have learned that what you put into Delta Omega is what you will get out of it. I get to control most of my experience. I never thought I would serve as an officer, perform in stomp (me having rhythm?!), and connect with so many different people. I realized that if you want to do something or get to know someone, then go for it! This might be obvious, but it took me awhile to figure out. Delta Omega has given me the push to step outside my comfort zone and for that I am grateful.
