“Don’t miss the gift of community the Lord is about to provide”
If you’ve hung out with me for any time at all, you will probably hear me say this sentence. This statement become one of the most pivotal faith moments of my life. It was something I needed to hear in high school, and it is something that the Lord has proven true time and time again in my life. When we expect that the Lord is going to show up in our community---that’s a game changer.
I’ve been in Delta Omega for almost two and a half years, and during those years, I have experienced this truth daily. Throughout my college experience, I have been blessed with so many incredible communities full of people who have loved me well. Delta Omega is no exception-- the friends that I found in this club have truly changed my life.
Delta Omega is home to so many people with diverse gifts and talents. We may not agree all the time, but the common core of Christ always brings us back together. Because of that common love for the Lord, it has created an indescribable community for so many women at Lipscomb. These women are world-changers, serving the world with hearts filled with the Spirit, and wow, have I been blessed to see this first-hand.
These people have seen me at my best—they have encouraged me to pursue the Lord more deeply than ever before. Some of my favorite memories from college involve traveling the throughout South America, weekly trips to Waffle House, and long nights of worship and prayer with sweet friends--- and nine times out of ten, I experienced these moments with people I met because of Delta Omega. These are the people who rejoice when I am rejoicing, and that is a rare and beautiful gift to find in a community.
These people have seen me at my worst—Some of the hardest moments of my life have happened during college. I have experienced pain, brokenness, and a whole host of emotions that we’d all rather pretend don’t exist. However, these girls have sat with me when I was broken, had the courage to have tough conversations with me, and in all things, they have extended me grace when I didn’t deserve it. These people haven’t just loved the best version of Elizabeth, they’ve loved the imperfect aspects, too. For that, I will forever be grateful.
The words that my mom told me four years ago still are true today. In many ways, Delta Omega has been that gift of community that the Lord knew I needed in college. I will never be able to describe how thankful I am for these girls, and I’m oh so excited for you to get to experience their love the way I have.
grace and peace,
elizabeth
